Diego Simeone did not see his long-term coaching career at Madrid's "Atletico" club.
At the end of 2011, the Argentine took over at the helm of "Atletico" and confirmed that his current contract with the "Rojiblancos" club is being shortened from 2020 to 2018.
There have been rumors in the media this summer that D. Simeone is considering leaving the Spanish capital's team. The strategist himself claims that the contract shortening does not affect his future work at "Atletico."
According to D. Simeone, this decision was made by both parties and this change does not mean that after 2018, D. Simeone will not sign a new contract with "Atletico."
"This is the right decision," - said D. Simeone at a press conference. - "We talked to the club and reached this decision by mutual agreement. We believe that this will be the best for both the team and the club."
"This shortening changes nothing. Both the club and I are calm. I am happy where I am now and this change in my contract does not mean that after 2018, I won't be able to renew it. I am not worried about my future," - added D. Simeone, considered one of the best football specialists.
Even before Antonio Conte arrived at London's "Chelsea," there were rumors in the media that D. Simeone was supposed to take over the "Blues" coach's seat last summer.
