Madrid's "Atletico" suffered two consecutive losses in Spanish championships for the first time since 2016 - first they were hit in Seville, and now they had to admit the advantage of Madrid's "Real".
In Saturday's Madrid derby, "the whites" triumphed with a score of 3:1. After the loss, "Atletico" lost the second position and further complicated their chances to compete with "Barca".
After the match, there was a real storm over the referee's work, but Diego Simeone doesn't think that the loss was experienced because the VAR system didn't detect a certain gap or foul.
"Atletico" lost because the opponents were superior," said D. Simeone. "I usually don't talk about VAR, but I believe that this system will only improve and be more effective for all teams".
"I didn't see any episode that VAR checked, so I can't say if they were right. However, I don't think we lost because of VAR's fault.
The opponents played better and were more convincing. I think it was a very good game for them. We have to congratulate them and prepare for the next duel," added D. Simeone.
