The new "Barcelona" team acquisition Denis Suarez could still become more expensive and cost around 13 million euros in total.
This was confirmed by the Catalonia club representative to the press, Josep Vives, during a press conference held late on Monday evening.
Barcelona used their first refusal to buy D. Suarez from the "Villarreal" team and paid 3.25 million euros for it, but it is now clear that this is not the total cost.
In the summer of 2013, the Catalans paid a very small amount - 1.6 million euros - for the footballer to the "Manchester City" team in the modern market. Suarez played one season in the youth academy team of the Catalonia club, but the agreement between the two teams also includes additional payments to the Manchester club if D. Suarez is transferred to the main "Barca" team.
If there are no more changes in Suarez's career, "Barcelona" will have to pay the "Manchester City" team 800 thousand euros this summer. The same amount will have to be paid to the English for every 10 matches Suarez plays in the elite "Barca" team.
The agreement is valid until the player plays 100 matches. Therefore, the maximum amount that the current team of Josep Guardiola can still receive for the defender could reach 8.8 million euros.
On Tuesday, Suarez's health was checked by the medical staff of the Catalonia club. On Wednesday, there will be an official presentation and signing ceremony of the player's contract at the headquarters of "Barcelona".
