Amsterdam's team "Ajax" played a remarkable UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday ending in a 4:4 draw with London's "Chelsea" footballers.
The champions of the Netherlands led 4:1 at the start of the second half, but an extremely rare phenomenon occurred in the 68th minute during the football match.
Daley Blind committed a foul near his penalty area against the opponent, but the match referee allowed the game to continue, as the ball still belonged to the "Chelsea" team, and immediately after that a penalty kick was awarded to "Ajax" as Joel Veltman handled the ball inside the penalty area. To make matters worse, both D. Blind and J. Veltman were sent off during the same attack.
After the match, "Ajax" forward Dusan Tadic did not hide his disappointment and spared no criticism for match referee Gianluca Rocchi.
"We were a much better team. We should only talk about our game, as at one point we were leading 4:1, but then one man decided to take everything away from us.
We are very disappointed, because now everyone should talk about the amazing football that "Ajax" played, but we cannot do that because the referee took everything away from us.
We saw that there was an obvious foul on Blind, but the referee did not notice it, and just moments later he himself was shown a second yellow card. Moreover, I don't think the referee should have awarded a penalty kick and sent Veltman off the field.
In my life, I have never seen such a triple punishment, but it all started because the referee did not notice Pulisic's foul on Blind.
We are disappointed. I don't like to make excuses or talk about other people. We should just say that "Ajax" was a much better team on the field than "Chelsea", but someone ruined the whole match," - expressed D. Tadic after the match.
