Amsterdam's "Ajax" begins another journey in the UEFA Champions League, which, as the players themselves would wish, could last no less than last year.
Last season, only a few seconds separated "Ajax" from reaching the final. The Amsterdam team, which caused a real sensation in Europe last season, is now welcoming a slightly changed lineup.
"Ajax" lost two talents in the summer - Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong. However, according to Dusan Tadic, the team is not experiencing any sorrow because of it.
"We did not mourn the departure of de Ligt and de Jong," - said the most productive player of last season to "Telegraph."
"Of course, we will miss them, but they decided to take a step forward, and "Ajax" always supports players who feel that it is time to move on.
Both players moved to big clubs, but this is not surprising at all. The best thing in this situation is that we have kept other players who were thinking about leaving. They decided to stay because they simply feel that their best days are still ahead of them. This is very important," - continued D. Tadic.
Last season, "Ajax" not only impressed everyone with a successful performance in Europe but also won all the trophies in the Netherlands. D. Tadic hopes to repeat this in the coming season as well.
"Without Matthijs and Frenkie, it will be harder than last season, but we still have a good team, we can win trophies, and perform well in Europe. Young players have joined the team, which will give us additional strength.
"Ajax" has sold its best players before, but that is the life of this club. Now, other young players will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and help take a step forward," - added the Serb.
