Marijampolė's "Sūduva" signed a contract with Donatas Vencevičius on Saturday, who will serve as the head coach of the team in 2025.
During his professional football career, 51-year-old D. Vencevičius became the champion of Lithuania and Denmark, as well as the vice-champion of Poland.
The midfielder, who has played 33 matches for the Lithuanian national team, began his coaching career in 2007, and soon his path led him to "Sūduva." In 2008 and 2009, he served as an assistant to the head coaches, and in 2010 he took over the team's helm himself.
Under D. Vencevičius's coaching, "Sūduva" became the vice-champion of Lithuania for the second time in the club's history and reached the final of the Baltic League, where they were defeated only in a penalty shootout.
Later, the coach worked in various Polish clubs, trained "Jonava," Alytus "Dainava," the Lithuanian U-21 national team, and Vilnius region's "TransINVEST."
The Marijampolė team will begin preparations for the 2025 season at the beginning of January.
