D. Welbeck: Removing "Man United" from the FA Cup was tough

London „Arsenal“ forward Danny Welbeck enjoyed his return to „Old Trafford“ stadium, but admitted that eliminating „Manchester United“ from the FA Cup tournament was not easy for him.

The England national team striker scored a winning goal in the 61st minute, when he intercepted the ball after a poor pass from Antonio Valencia and beat the „Red Devils“ goalkeeper David De Gea.

Welbeck was a product of the „Man United“ academy in his childhood, and joined the „Gunners“ only on the last day of the 2014 summer transfer window.

„Manchester United“ is a club that means a lot to me. I am a fan of it and it is very difficult for me to eliminate it from the FA Cup“, the forward told BBC.

The 24-year-old footballer also talked about why he celebrated the goal, saying that it was very difficult to control his emotions at that moment.

„I think when emotions overwhelm you, it is very difficult to control. Nevertheless, I have great respect for my former club.“

„I am just very happy that we made it to the next stage.“
