D. Welbeck will not play any matches until nine months after his knee operation.

London's "Arsenal" club confirmed on Wednesday that 25-year-old striker Danny Welbeck will be sidelined for about nine months after undergoing knee surgery.

The England national team member suffered a knee injury on Sunday during a match against "Manchester City". After a collision with Bacary Sagna, the Englishman was substituted in the 24th minute. Initially, it was expected that D. Welbeck would definitely return to the field at the start of the next season, but the prognosis was much more grim.

Due to the injury, D. Welbeck will not only have to miss the final match of this season's English "Premier" League against "Aston Villa", but also the most important tournament in the Old Continent - the 2016 European Championship.

The former "Manchester United" striker had to miss a large part of the season earlier due to a serious knee injury. D. Welbeck played his first match of the 2015-16 season only on February 14, when "Arsenal" defeated champions "Leicester City".

After scoring five goals in 16 matches this season, D. Welbeck confirmed on social media after receiving the painful news that he will come back even stronger.

It is expected that the England national team striker will return to the field before the end of 2016 after his knee injury.
