London's "Arsenal" confirmed that striker Danny Welbeck underwent knee surgery after unsuccessfully recovering from an injury suffered in April.
The North London club hoped that the Englishman would not need to go under the surgeon's knife and would be able to rehabilitate during the summer, but with the forecasts not proving accurate, Welbeck will be sidelined for at least a few more months.
The exact rehabilitation time after the surgery is not announced, but it is likely that the striker will be able to play at full strength at the earliest in winter.
This loss leaves the "Gunners" with only one center forward Olivier Giroud, as during the summer transfer window, Arsenal failed to acquire either Karim Benzema or Edinson Cavani.
