More and more concerned about environmental pollution, people are urged to use reusable packaging, so the DFK "Dainava" took the initiative to refuse single-use plastic drink cups during football matches at the stadium in Alytus and replace them with reusable ones.

A Step Towards Ecology

DFK "Dainava" is the first football club in Lithuania to refuse single-use cups at the stadium, ensuring a reduction in environmental pollution.

"The Alytus city stadium is in one of the most beautiful locations - surrounded by a pine forest. Unfortunately, after each football match, a lot of plastic cup waste was left behind, which was not always thrown into the bins; often they remained in the stands, and with a strong wind, they ended up in the stadium's access points. Therefore, in order to make a sustainable and environmentally friendly decision that would not pollute our beloved forest, we chose an ecological solution, which is rapidly gaining popularity in foreign football stadiums, and we are the first implementers of this idea in Lithuania," - says the director of the Dzukija football club "Dainava" Žydrūnas Lukošiūnas.

One of the strategic directions of Alytus city is a sustainable city, so the club contributes to the preservation of sustainability and the support of the green course.

Deposit System

In food service places at the stadium, when ordering a drink, you will need to leave a 1 Euro deposit for the glass. After using it, you will need to return it to the food provider, and the deposit will be refunded to the buyer.

These glasses cannot be taken outside the stadium, they must be returned so that they can be washed and reused during other matches later on.

At the moment, 600 reusable plastic glasses have been made. They will be used starting from this Friday when DFK "Dainava" meets FC "Hegelmann" at 7 p.m.

Supporting Awareness

The DFK "Dainava" club aims to draw attention to environmental issues that affect our forests, water bodies, and animal welfare.

It is hoped that all football stadium visitors will support this idea, understanding the importance of protecting nature by taking small steps to make a positive change for the planet.

Furthermore, this will help save staff time cleaning the stands after matches, and money will be saved on producing single-use glasses.
