D.Alves: "I know there were doubts about me in the club"

In the media rumors this summer Daniel Alves has constantly been declined - he stays at the Catalan club.

The football player himself confirmed this news at a press conference on Thursday.

"I have decided to stay at Barca. I realize that my game over the past two years hasn't been as good as it could be, but I accept the challenge. I never wanted to leave the team, but I know there were doubts about me in the club. Lack of support in the team, from the fans? Well, these things happen, but first of all, I need to blame myself", - Dani Alves spoke self-critically.

According to the Brazilian, he made his decision about his future in the team after a conversation with head coach Luis Enrique.

"The worse things get, the more motivation I have and the stronger I become. I heard various rumors, but when I returned to the club after vacation, I wanted one thing - to talk openly and honestly. It was important to me. After the conversation with the coach, I understood that he trusts me and I trust him", - said the defender.

The footballer noted that Luis Enrique is a very demanding strategist and he believes it will be very beneficial for the team.

"My contract is valid until 2016. I think I have earned at least some respect at Barca, and the new season will be very important to me. I take responsibility for past failures and in the field I will give my all", - promised the Brazilian.

Finally, Dani Alves found an opportunity to tease journalists who had written various rumors about him: "It's impossible to fight the media, but it's possible to fight oneself. If I could, I would advise everyone to buy a newspaper and not read the texts, just look at the illustrations."

The defender also managed to joke about the team's newcomer Luis Suarez: "We need 'bad boys' in the team. Maybe then I won't be the one criticized the most. Seriously, I like Luis. He is a true fighter".
