Former Spanish national team coach Vicente Del Bosque believes that the "Ballon d'Or" awards have lost their credibility.
Everything leads to the fact that this year Luka Modric will take the "Golden Ball" into his hands. Surprisingly, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo are likely to be in the top three.
"I am very surprised that Lionel is not there," Del Bosque said about the Ballon d'Or trio.
"I think that the awards lose their value when the best player on the planet is not even among the top three. It's a very strange situation," continued the experienced coach.
The Ballon d'Or award will be presented in Paris next Monday.
Asked about the increased competition in La Liga this season, Del Bosque replied: "It's great to see Sevilla in first place, and the competition is quite even.
"Atletico, Real, and Barcelona are the main teams, but we all want to see open competitions."
