The strategist of the Spanish national team, Vicente Del Bosque, did not complain about the poor pitch after the victory against Lithuania and celebrated the win.
"The victory was not easy, as the opponents fought stubbornly until the end of the match," said the specialist. "I am glad that the opponents did so without rough play. We are all very pleased because we haven't been successful in Lithuania so far."
When asked about the first two goals - the first one coming from a ricochet, the second an own goal - not being a big success, Del Bosque smiled.
"Success is a very important factor in football. The Lithuanians were resilient, but we were stronger. It could have gone either way - maybe if the defender hadn't scored an own goal, the forward Fernando Llorente would have done it. It's hard to say."
And he added: "There is no need to talk about the field conditions. We played, we won, there are no injuries. The three points practically secured the first place in the group, but we cannot celebrate too early. We have to continue fighting."
When asked why he changed five starting players compared to the match against the Czech Republic, the coach said: "We have a large selection of players, we need to make the most of it. Everyone is a good footballer, and changes are necessary. In a few days, we achieved two good results."
