Del Neri: Speeches about Buffon's sale - foolishness © EuroFootball.com

The strategist Luigi Del Neri referred to the talks about selling Gianluigi Buffon as "foolishness" and added that the team will not necessarily be reinforced with a new attacker in the winter.

Recently, rumors have been circulating that clubs such as Bayern Munich, Man Utd, and Zenit St. Petersburg are interested in acquiring the goalkeeper.

Del Neri himself also gave a hint, stating that Buffon, returning after an injury, will have to prove that he deserves a place on the field, as Marco Storari is currently in good athletic form.

"You can't say anything about great footballers without risking being misunderstood," Del Neri stated. "People want to create controversies by claiming that I don't think Buffon is the best. I'm not crazy. Buffon has been teaching coaches to train goalkeepers for 10 years."

"How could I doubt him? All my concerns are related to his physical condition - after all, Gianluigi is returning after surgery. And the idea of selling Buffon is foolishness. He is the club's asset."

Speaking about strengthening the squad, the coach added: "We won't buy just for the sake of buying. The most important thing is to maintain balance."
