According to Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, this season is the last for the Turin legend Alessandro Del Piero.
The Italian, who will celebrate his 37th birthday next month, has been playing for the "Old Lady" since 1993.
"Del Piero wanted to stay for another year, which would have been his last with the team," Agnelli said. "We can only thank our captain, who himself declared that he will not sign any more contracts with Juventus."
It is said that the veteran decided to play for another year in order to have the opportunity to take the field at the new Juventus stadium.
In total, he played 677 matches and scored 284 goals for the Turin team. He also represented the Italian national team 91 times.
