On Monday, the EURO 2020 Group B matches ended. The first victory in the tournament was clinched by the Danish national team, which defeated the Russians 4:1. The Danes started the match more aggressively, but the Russians successfully searched for their own opportunities in counterattacks. However, the first goal fell into the Russian net when Mikkel Damsgaard scored with a great shot in the 38th minute. In the 59th minute, Russian defenders simply gifted a goal to Yussuf Poulsen, doubling the Danish advantage. The Russian footballers did not give up, and in the 70th minute, Artem Dzyuba narrowed their team's deficit by converting an 11-meter penalty. However, the Danes scored two more goals at the end of the match - Andreas Christensen in the 79th minute, and Joakim Maehle in the 82nd minute - and secured their first victory in EURO 2020. These three points were enough for the Danes to secure the second place in the group and advance to the tournament's quarterfinals.
