Judge Mateo Lahoz's World Cup in Qatar is already over.
COPE reports that the 45-year-old referee packed his bags and went home.
M. Lahoz became known worldwide when he handed out yellow cards (15) left and right in the quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands, setting a championship record.
Both teams were very dissatisfied with the referee's work, and after the match, forward Lionel Messi poured out his disappointment in front of the cameras, also receiving a yellow card.
"The match should not have ended the way it did. We were worried even before the match, because we knew who he was, and I think FIFA must take that into account and not allow such referees to officiate important matches."
