Disappointed Titus: "Messi told me to shut up"

Brazil's national team coach Tite revealed why he got into a confrontation with Argentina's national team captain Lionel Messi.

On Friday evening, Brazil and Argentina's national teams clashed in friendly matches. Despite appearing to be a match with little "friendly" spirit, the Argentinians triumphed 1-0.

Tite said after the game that he exchanged angry remarks with L. Messi after the referee failed to show him a yellow card.

"I was unhappy because Lionel should have received a yellow card. He then told me to 'shut up,' and I responded in the same way," Tite commented on the situation at a press conference.

"I don't think it's worth talking about it any further. In games like these, you need a strong referee, not one who can be easily 'swallowed'. He (Messi) should have received a card, so I was justified in my reaction," added the Brazilian coach.

Thiago Silva's take on the incident:

"One of the most admired guys in football telling a coach to shut up, no matter the rivalry, education must come first"
