According to the Lithuanian Football Federation, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee disqualified Lithuanian national team defender Deividas Šemberas for three matches for violent conduct during the World Cup qualifying match against Belgium.

"In the 2006 World Cup qualifying match between Lithuania and Belgium (October 12), in the 83rd minute, Šemberas was sent off for violent conduct. According to the referee's report, a Belgian player passed the ball to his teammate, whom Šemberas violently pushed and stopped with a strong elbow nudge," the FIFA Disciplinary Committee report states.

For the deliberate attack on the opponent's player, Šemberas was disqualified for three matches by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee's decision. Additionally, according to the same FIFA Disciplinary Committee article, the Lithuanian Football Federation imposed a fine of 7,000 Swiss Francs (approximately 15,000 Lithuanian litas).

This is not the first loss for the Lithuanian national team in the upcoming European Championship qualifying matches starting next year - in September, a defender received a five-match suspension for violent conduct and disrespect towards the referee during the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
