D.Surblys: "If the season ends on Saturday, we will evaluate it as catastrophic

This weekend, the regular season of the "TopSport futsal A league" will be concluded with five matches. Despite the fact that each team has one more match to play, none of them know yet which position they will take in the knockout stage.

It is still unclear who (either "Vikings" or "Akmenės kraštas") will take the second place, as well as how the teams from sixth to ninth place will be positioned in the table. Remember that the ninth place means the end of the season, and currently "Gargždų pramogos" representatives are on that ninth step.

"It's fair to say that the season is pretty bad so far - damn it. If it ends on Saturday, we will evaluate it as a disaster," - said the team's veteran Donatas Surblys.

"Gargždų pramogos" club has not been left out of the knockout stage since its inception. We can recall that the team's troubles began from the first round, when they suffered a defeat at home to "VGTU Vilnius".

"That defeat may have been some kind of signal, but it would be unfair to blame it all on that. We got ahead and managed to win something in the first round. After that, it was more difficult. Of course, the reasons are quite simple: a major change in the line-up, minimal number of matches when we played with the same line-up, a significant number of injuries and illnesses. In any case, there's no need to make excuses - we need to save the season," - said D. Surblys.

Despite everything, "Gargždų pramogos" players are still the owners of the situation. After eighteen rounds, they have 15 points and they are only one point behind "Hegelmann" and three points behind the "Kėdainiai United" team and future opponents "Radviliškis" footballers.

"We approach Saturday's match as a survival match. We will try to achieve the necessary result and, of course, rise as high as possible. We understand that it won't be easy, because "Radviliškis" is now on a good wave, they have reached the final quartet of the LFF Cup and they also understand the importance of tomorrow's match," - commented D. Surblys.

If "Pramogos" were to win, their final position would depend on the meeting of the other teams. Since "Kėdainiai United" plays against "Kauno Žalgiris", and "Hegelmann" - against VIP.

"If we were to stay in eighth place, I would still say that the season is bad. The only difference is that the season would last a bit longer. But just a little... everyone understands very well that today it would be very difficult for any Lithuanian team to compete seriously with "Kauno Žalgiris"," - he added.
