Two Scottish Premier League clubs have appointed new head coaches - former Scotland national team defender John Collins has taken the position of Edinburgh strategist, while experienced championship manager Craig Levein will lead the team.
For 38-year-old J.Collins, who signed a three-year contract with Hibernian to replace Tony Mowbray who moved to W.B.A, this will be his first coaching job after ending his playing career at Fulham in 2003. His assistant is expected to be the experienced former Newcastle and Celtic coach Tommy Craig.
As a player, J.Collins played for Hibernian for several years, later moved to Celtic, and also played for Monaco, Everton, and Fulham during his career. He represented the Scottish national team as a defender 58 times, scoring 12 goals and participating in the 1990 and 1998 World Cups, as well as the 1996 European Championship.
Meanwhile, Craig Levein has taken over as the head coach of Dundee United following the resignation of Craig Brewster after a devastating defeat to Falkirk on Sunday. Levein signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and brought in Peter Houston as his assistant.
Last week, former Hearts and Leicester City coach 42-year-old C. Levein, who had been coaching Raith Rovers without a contract recently, rejected an offer from Dunfermline and agreed to work with Dundee United following Brewster's departure.
Hibernian currently sits in 7th place in the Scottish championship with 15 points, while Dundee United is in last place with 8 points. Meanwhile, the team in second-to-last place is also without a head coach as Jim Leishman returned to a director role. The main candidates to fill the vacancy are Brewster, Sydney strategist Terry Butcher, former Hibernian coach Bobby Williamson, and Livingston coach and Hearts legend John Robertson.
