The Dutch Football Federation has confirmed that the 2019-20 season of the Eredivisie championship is officially terminated. Finishing the season became impossible after the Dutch Prime Minister announced that no mass events could take place in the country until September 1st. Dutch football officials only had bureaucratic issues left to resolve. On Friday, it was officially announced that the Amsterdam club "Ajax" will not be awarded the champions title, even though they were on top of the standings when the league was suspended. Behind them, "AZ Alkmaar" had the same amount of points but lost out on goal difference. It was also reported that no team will be relegated to a lower division. This means that no team from the second division will be promoted to the country's highest league.
BREAKING: The 2019/20 Eredivisie season has been ended, with no relegation or promotion and no team awarded the title. Ajax and AZ Alkmaar qualify for the UEFA Champions League; Feyenoord, PSV, and Willem II go into the UEFA Europa League. Source
