After saying goodbye to Bayern Munich at the end of the season, Arjen Robben has decided to retire from football for good.
The 35-year-old Dutch football legend surprisingly announced that he is ending his career. A. Robben has been playing professional football for about 19 years.
After Bayern confirmed that they will not be renewing their contract with A. Robben, there was speculation about what the future holds for the Dutchman. However, the footballer, who has been plagued by constant injuries in recent years, decided to no longer play.
"Without a doubt, this is the hardest decision I have made in my career," wrote the Dutchman. "You have to retire when you realize that you are no longer a 16-year-old footballer and you know what a real injury means."
A. Robben started his career in 2000 at Groningen club. Later, the footballer moved to PSV Eindhoven, and from there he transferred to Chelsea in London, where he spent three years.
In 2007, the Dutchman moved to play for Real Madrid, and from 2009 until this year, he defended the colors of Bayern Munich. He played a total of 309 matches for the Bavarians.
Throughout his football career, including appearances for the Netherlands national team, A. Robben played 702 matches and scored 247 goals.
A. Robben once won the UEFA Champions League. In total, he won 30 trophies during his career.
