One of the most productive players of this season's Spanish league, David Villa, according to president Juan Solero, is ready to extend his contract with the club.
Having already scored 16 goals this season, Villa, despite being one of the lowest-paid players at Valencia, is rumored to have attracted interest from several famous English clubs. This led Valencia to rush to offer their attacking leader a new contract.
According to Juan Solero, in the coming days the club will sign a new long-term contract with the player, which will obligate Villa to stay at the club until 2013. Reportedly, under the new contract, the player will earn 120 thousand euros per week, almost double what he has earned so far.
The 24-year-old Villa moved to Valencia just this summer from the Zaragoza club. Valencia paid 12 million euros for the player considered one of the most promising Spanish footballers at that time. The player's previous contract was valid until 2011.
