On Saturday, the 32nd round of matches began in the "Optibet A lyga". Telšiai's "Džiugas" secured their second victory in a row, defeating the team of FA "Šiauliai" at home after an impressive goal from Oleksijus Zbunas 1:0 (0:0).
In the first half, both teams frequently approached the opponent's penalty area, but there were no clear opportunities, except for Danielius Romanovskis' attempt to beat goalkeeper Vincentas Šarkauskas.
After the break, there were more heated moments near both goals. In the 61st minute, the team from Šiauliai had one of the best chances to change the score. After a beautiful combination in the penalty area, D. Romanovskis found himself in a great position to shoot, but unfortunately missed the ball.
Less than ten minutes later, "Džiugas" launched an attack on the opponent's goal, where the successful play of goalkeeper Gustas Baliutavičius temporarily saved the Šiauliai team. After clearing the ball on the right side of the penalty area, Oleksijus Zbunas struck impressively into the far corner of the goal, putting Telšiai ahead.
Later, the intensity of the game decreased slightly. Šiauliai had several unsuccessful attempts at goal during extra time, while the hosts almost scored through Aldaras Ferreira.
The victory for "Džiugas" (25 points) allowed them to equalize points with "Banga", who are in eighth place. FA "Šiauliai" (38 points) is in seventh place.
