Former Barcelona and French national team defender Eric Abidal has no doubt about the talent of 18-year-old Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, but he is not sure if he is worth the sum that is being mentioned in the media.
Last season, K. Mbappe became a true French football discovery, and this summer he is being chased by European giants. It is claimed that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are willing to pay 135 million euros for the young footballer.
According to E. Abidal, this amount was inflated due to Paul Pogba's transfer to Manchester United. The defender himself believes that it would be best for K. Mbappe to stay at Monaco for at least one more season and wait for a chance to go to the 2018 World Cup with the French national team.
"Mbappe is a great footballer, but his price is definitely not 135 million euros," said the new Barcelona club ambassador to "Cadena Ser" radio. "I think he should stay at Monaco and show that he truly is a top-level player."
"He should make a decision that guarantees him a lot of minutes on the field - after all, the World Cup is coming up for the French national team," advised E. Abidal to the young footballer.
Finally, the former defender also commented on the current transfer market: "When you start paying 100 million euros for Pogba, then players with even more talent reach values of over 200 million euros."
"How much should Barcelona then value Lionel Messi and Neymar?", rhetorically asked E. Abidal.
