E. Dunphy: "United" is no longer "a big club"

Former Irish national team player Eamon Dunphy, who started his career in the "Manchester United" academy, after the match with PSV club stated that "United" no longer belongs to the group of big clubs.

"United" is no longer a big club. We look at clubs like "Barcelona," "Bayern" or "Real" and we can say that they are truly big clubs. It is simply no longer possible to call "Manchester United" such a club," - Dunphy said on RTE television show in Ireland.

Dunphy also criticized the work of the team's scouts, pointing out that "United" acquired Memphis Depay for a higher sum, while "Bayern" invited Douglas Costa to their ranks for a lower amount.

"There's a guy - Douglas Costa, who plays for the "Bayern" club. He's an amazing player and scored a goal yesterday. He cost their team 22 million pounds.

At the same time, when "Bayern" acquired Costa, "United" bought Memphis for 24 million pounds. Where is their scouting system? This raises questions," - said the Irishman about the summer acquisitions.

Although "United" is still fighting for their fate in the Champions League, it is clear that such a performance against PSV in the match did not bring satisfaction to the team's coach Louis van Gaal for sure.
