E. Eboue's transfer to Cyprus delayed due to poor blood tests, but rumors about HIV denied

Former London "Arsenal" defender Emmanuel Eboue has not yet been able to return to football. During a medical check-up at the Limassol "Turk Ocagi" club, his blood tests showed unclear results, so the transition had to be postponed, sources told Goal.com.

The 34-year-old footballer was punished with a one-year disqualification after not paying 1 million euros to his former agent. Since then, he has maintained his physical form in Hungary.

The Turkish media reported that the former Ivory Coast national team player was suffering from HIV, but this was denied by Tekin Birinci, who is with the Cyprus team.

"Eboue signed a contract with the club and as usual, we conducted a medical examination," Birinci told Goal.com. "They received abnormal blood test results and did not issue a license, so we made the decision to send him to England for further testing."

"At this moment, it is incorrect to say that he has HIV. The reports in the Turkish media are wrong. I clearly stated this two days ago. Even if it were true, it should not be announced in this manner."

Eboue had previously admitted that life without football had led him to depression and even thoughts of suicide.
