Having represented "Žalgiris" for four seasons, Edvinas Gertmonas is leaving Vilnius and continuing his career at a foreign club.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper extended his contract with "Žalgiris" at the beginning of last year.
The club and the player had a verbal agreement that they could allow the footballer to move abroad if such an opportunity arose.
E. Gertmonas arrived in Vilnius in the summer of 2019.
For the first two seasons, he was the second goalkeeper of the team, and for the last three - the main one.
During four years within "Žalgiris," he played 116 matches, became the country's champion three times, won the cup once, and the Supercup twice.
In 2022, the team reached the group stage of the UEFA tournaments for the first time, and at the end of the season, he was voted the best Lithuanian football player.
The club wishes the player success in his next career move.
"The time has come to take a new step in my career and test myself in a different championship. I thank 'Žalgiris,' the team's fans, players, staff for their support and the memorable time together. I wish good luck in new adventures," said E. Gertmonas in his farewell message.
