On Monday, the battles in Group E of the European Championship began. The first match at the St. Petersburg stadium featured the teams of Poland and Slovakia. In a tense match, the Slovaks achieved a 2:1 victory. At the beginning of the match, the Polish sniper R. Lewandowski unsuccessfully tried to score from a distance. In the 18th minute, the first goal of the match was scored - R. Mak fooled two opponents and beat goalkeeper W.Szczesny. Officially, the own goal was credited to the Pole. The Poles tried to equalize but without success. However, Paulo Sousa's players got their revenge at the beginning of the second half when K. Linetty scored after a combination - 1:1. In the 62nd minute, Polish player G. Krychowiak was sent off with a second yellow card. In the 69th minute, the Slovaks excellently executed a corner situation and M. Skriniar scored - 2:1.
