The World Cup semi-final did not go well for the Belgian national team - the Belgians were attempting to reach the final for the first time in their country's history, but they lost to France.
Samuel Umtiti's goal in the second half determined the winner of the match. The Belgians struggled greatly in creating chances in this match, and the French took advantage of their golden opportunity to continue their fight for the most important football trophy.
After the match, two Belgian football stars, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, were not satisfied with the French team's performance.
"I would rather lose with this Belgian team than win with this French team," sharply remarked E. Hazard about his opponents.
T. Courtois responded even more harshly about their rivals: "France played anti-football. I have never played a match where a striker (Giroud - red.) played so close to his own goal.
Playing like that was their choice - they knew that was the only way they could beat us. However, it definitely was not enjoyable to watch their football. I can confidently say that this team was not better than us."
