The head coach of London’s Chelsea club, Enzo Maresca, defended the criticized goalkeeper Robert Sanchez before the upcoming match against Manchester City, spoke about Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, and stated that his team has enough midfielders:
"I fully trust goalkeeper R. Sanchez. How many times did Moises Caicedo make inaccurate passes? Many. How many chances did Nicolas Jackson miss? Many.
How many times were Noni Madueke's crosses unsuccessful? Many times. Robert made only four mistakes...”
"J. Felix is an ‘aristocratic’ player; he is excellent.
The problem for the Portuguese and C. Nkunku is that the coach spends most of the matches with a single attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer.
They lack playing minutes; there are no other reasons. They are very good players.”
"We do not intend to sign new midfielders in January or recall Andrey Santos or Lesley Ugochukwu from loan.
We have enough players in the midfield, like Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Kiernans Dewsbury-Hall.”
London’s Chelsea club is in fourth place in the English Premier League with 40 points.
