E. Petit: "Arsenal" raised players are not good enough

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Petit believes that the Gunners' lack of success in winning titles is due to too much reliance on the club's academy.

The London team has already been eliminated from the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, trailing the Premier League leaders Leicester City by 11 points.

Therefore, it is very likely that Arsenal will not be able to win the English league title for the first time in 12 years.

"Arsenal's academy policy is very good, but only up to a certain point," Petit told Sky Sports. "Many good players come from the academy, but in the last three or four years they have not improved."

"It's a big disappointment. Players like Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Jack Wilshere are constantly injured and do not show their full potential."

"They are good, but not good enough, and that's why they need something else in the dressing room."

When asked what Arsenal lacks, Petit replied: "To go beyond the academy limit, they need to acquire experienced players - famous names, prominent personalities with a winning mentality."

"The team needs leaders. They are capable, that's without question, and they have great players, but that's not enough. They need leaders, prominent personalities, and players who hate failure and always want to win - not just matches, but titles."

In addition to all the mentioned thoughts, Petit expressed confidence that Arsenal will finally start spending money, and the acquisitions of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were just the beginning.
