The Lithuanian Football Federation continues to express indignation over the reduced state funding.
According to the organization's president, Edgaras Stankevičius, the sports branch with 1487 unique players surpasses basketball (1276) and should rank significantly higher overall.
"If it weren't for UEFA and FIFA funds, we would be generally talking about the death of football in Lithuania. State funds account for only 1.65 percent of our federation's budget. Is this how it should be? And this is received by the Olympic sports federation?”
The allocation of funds is completely inadequate, and the further it goes, the more all these various new regulations, rules, and standards seem to worsen,” said LFF president E. Stankevičius to lrytas.lt journalist Modestas Krukauskas.
