E. ten Haag: "I am not Harry Potter" © PA

"Manchester United” suffered a painful defeat at home on Sunday, losing 0:3 to the "Liverpool” team.

Despite the painful blow, "Man Utd” strategist Erik ten Hag stated after the match that his team will be competing for trophies by the end of the season.

"This was only the third match of the season. We need time to build a new team.

I have tried to explain this to you many times. We have many young players, as well as new signings. In this match, three players played in the starting lineup for the first time this season. Everything will be alright for us.

It is clear that we need to step up, but I believe that at the end of the season we have a chance to fight for another trophy,” said E. ten Hag.

In the match against "Liverpool”, central midfielder Casemiro received a lot of criticism and was substituted at halftime. The "Red Devils” signed another central midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, at the end of the transfer window, but E. ten Hag emphasized that the Uruguayan will also need time to settle in.

"Ugarte is another player we will need to integrate into the team. That will again take time. I am not Harry Potter. You have to understand that.

It is important to realize that Ugarte hasn’t played a single minute this season. He will need time to get into his best form,” added the Dutchman.

E. ten Hag also had no doubt that Casemiro will still be useful to the team this season.

"Casemiro has proven many times that he has a great character. We have seen time and again that he can be a crucial figure in the midfield. I am sure he will bounce back after this setback,” claimed E. ten Hag.
