Despite the victory, the foreign media did not spare criticism for both “Man Utd” coach Erik ten Hag and the players, who managed to waste a three-goal lead in a very short time, allowing the “Championship” team to even extend the win in extra time, but their goal was disallowed for a minimal offside.
Nevertheless, E. ten Hag himself doesn't think that his team's victory was disgraceful and criticized journalists before the clash with “Sheffield United”.
“I can't understand such a journalist reaction after the match with ‘Coventry’.
Was this victory disgraceful? No, but the journalists' reaction to it was certainly disgraceful.
In top-level football, the most important thing is the result. We made it to the final because we deserve it. We are not just talking about the semi-final match, but the whole tournament.
I agree that we lost control of the match at the very end, but we also needed a bit of luck. Of course, in the end, luck was on our side.
Reaching the final is a huge achievement. Even more wonderful is playing in the final for two seasons in a row. For me, as a coach, this will be the fourth cup final in four years, so such comments from journalists are simply disrespectful,” E. ten Hag said at the press conference.
