On Friday evening, quotes from Erik ten Hag's press conference appeared in the English media, in which the Dutchman once again spoke about the uncomfortable situation with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Just a reminder, C. Ronaldo did not want to enter the field after being substituted in the match against 'Tottenham' and later left 'Old Trafford' stadium before the final whistle.
After this incident, E. ten Hag allowed Ronaldo to train alone for one session and later – with the U21 team, not including him in the match squad for the game against 'Chelsea'.
"I handle things as I have been doing so far. I am a coach. I am responsible for the culture and have to set standards and values, I have to control them. We are a team that has standards and values, and we must control them," - said E. ten Hag in the first part of the press conference.
"Ronaldo will not be with the team in these matches, we will be able to continue the work later. I am open about it, but this was a warning. We said in an official statement that Cristiano remains part of the team and I trust him for the rest of the season. We want to fulfill our ambitions.
"I trust Cristiano, so at the moment there is no need to think about buying a new forward in January.
"I believe Ronaldo's love from fans is justified, as he has achieved a lot in his career. I don't have to say that, but his career has been amazing. However, you always have to know that you are treated the way you treat yourself on that day," - said the 'Man Utd' strategist at the press conference.
