The goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar confirmed that he will end his career after this season.
The 40-year-old veteran joined the Manchester team in 2005 after arriving from Fulham in London and played 245 matches in the 'red devils' ranks.
"It's time to pay more attention to my family," - said the Dutchman. - "I can't say when I made my decision. Maybe when my wife had health problems."
And he added: "Age was not the most important criterion. Although I am already 40 years old, I feel physically ready."
