"Premier League" leader club has extended the contract with their goalkeeper from the Netherlands, Edwin Van Der Sar, for another year, agreeing to play for the "Red Devils" until the summer of 2008. The Dutchman, who arrived in Manchester from "Fulham" 18 months ago, immediately became the main goalkeeper of the club, beating out the American Tim Howard, who was loaned to "Everton" this year. Although the former stars of "Ajax" and "Juventus" are already 36 years old, coach Alex Ferguson said he has not lost confidence in the player: "Edwin can easily play for another two years. Our team adheres to the principle of signing one-year contracts with players over thirty. With his excellent performance, he deserves another year on the contract." Edwin Van Der Sar, who won the Champions League with "Ajax" in 1995, is considered the best goalkeeper for "Man Utd" since the legendary Dane Peter Schmeichel. "He has a strong winning character. I think Edwin can play football until he is 40 - not everyone can do that," praised Ferguson for the Dutchman.
