At 14:30 Lithuanian time, the second match of the new English Premier League season took place.
For the first points of the season, Newcastle faced Tottenham at St. James Park. Three goals at the beginning of the match resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Spurs.
In the 8th minute, the first goal of the game was scored - after a corner, Davinson Sanchez took a shot straight into the goal, and Jan Vertonghen headed the ball past the goal line.
However, playing in front of their fans, the Magpies didn't falter and equalized just three minutes later - Joselu scored a beautiful header after a fantastic pass from Matt Ritchie to beat Hugo Lloris.
The goal spectacle continued with another goal - in the 18th minute, Tottenham regained the lead. Serge Aurier made a clever pass into the box to find Dele Alli, who also scored with a header to get the second goal for the team.
In the second half, the game remained unchanged - both teams attacked aggressively, but no more goals were scored. Newcastle hit the frame of Tottenham's goal twice, but football gods were on the side of the visitors from London today.
Together with Manchester United, Tottenham are the only clubs celebrating victories in the new season so far.
