On Thursday in Germany, the first playoff match of the "Bundesliga" championship took place.
Frankfurt's "Eintracht" is in 16th place in the country's top league, so they are fighting for the right to stay in the championship against the third-placed "Nurnberg" team in the second strongest league in the country. After the first 90 minutes, no points were scored - the teams were evenly matched.
This match was exceptional for "Eintracht" captain Marco Russ, who was found to have a testicular tumor during a doping test. Nevertheless, the defender did not dare to give up football and played the full 90 minutes.
Unfortunately, in the 42nd minute, M. Russ let the opponents break through - the ball from the defender fell into the "Eintracht" goal. However, the home team looked much better throughout the game and created significantly more dangerous opportunities. In the 65th minute, Mijat Gacinovič managed to score the equalizing goal.
The decisive rematch between "Nurnberg" and "Eintracht" will take place next Monday.
Result:
"Eintracht" 1 - 1 "Nurnberg"
42' [0 - 1] M. Russ (own goal)
65' [1 - 1] M. Gacinovič
