Ronaldo Koeman's famous brother Erwin Koeman voluntarily stepped down from the position of head coach of Rotterdam's top team after they finished only seventh in the Dutch league.
E. Koeman took over the Rotterdam team in 2005, replacing Ruud Gullit. In his first season as manager, Feyenoord players achieved bronze.
However, after leaders Dirk Kuyt and Salomon Kalou left the club in the summer to join Liverpool and Chelsea, respectively, the team no longer showed their usual game and experienced their worst season since 1991.
Feyenoord will still compete in playoff matches, where they could secure a spot in the UEFA Europa League. The team will be temporarily led by assistant coaches John Metgod and Henk Duut.
