The quarterfinal matches of the Lithuanian Football Federation Cup took place on Saturday in Palanga - Panevėžys "Ekranas" easily defeated Jonava's "Lietava", while Klaipėda's "Atlantas" crushed Kėdainiai's "Nevėžis".
Due to poor weather conditions, both matches were moved to Palanga's winter stadium. The first match was played by the country's vice-champion "Ekranas", facing the seventh "I league" team Jonava's "Lietava", and easily defeating them with a score of 3-0. Among the Panevezys players who stood out were D. Saulėnas, G. Paulauskas, and M. Savėnas.
An even greater victory was achieved by Klaipėda's "Atlantas", who in the battle of the third-placed teams from the past "A league" and "I league" seasons, won with a crushing score of 6-1. After the first half, the people of Klaipeda already had a five-goal advantage, and in the second half they increased it to six goals, with A. Popovas scoring a consolation goal for the guests towards the end of the match.
The remaining quarterfinal match will take place on Tuesday, March 22nd. In what is probably the only intriguing pair of this cup stage, "Vilnius" and "Šiauliai" will face off.
