Over the weekend, friendly games were played in training camps abroad. Panevezys and Marijampole played friendly matches in the Turkish city of Antalya against the team "Metalurgs" from the highest league of Ukraine's Zaporizhia, and lost with a score of 0-2.
"Ekranas" 0 - 2 "Metalurgs"
"Ekranas": Stevanovic (46' Skrupskis); Gleveckas, L. Klimavicius (72' Saulekas), Skroblas, Paulauskas; Petrauskas (46' Kavaliauskas), Tomkevicius, Pogreban (46' Sidlauskas), Savenas, Bicka; Luksys
The first goal of the match just before the end of the first half was scored by Andrejus Demcenko, confusing "Ekranas" defender and goalkeeper with an individual run, while the second goal in the 76th minute was scored by Taras Kabanovas after a pass from the side.
After the match, the head coach's assistant Albertas Klimavicius officially stated on the "Ekranas" website that the match was intense. "The opponents scored the first goal during a counterattack, catching our defenders off guard in the middle of the field."
According to the coach, "Ekranas" players had excellent opportunities to soften the result, but they failed to capitalize on them.
"Suduva" 0 - 1 "Shakhtar-2"
Meanwhile, "Suduva", continuing their preparation in Alushta, started participating in an eight-team tournament, where teams were divided into two groups. Marijampole met with Donetsk's "Shakhtar" second team in their first match, which this year participated in the "Unity" tournament in Moscow.
The Ukrainians won the match with a score of 1-0. In the twenty-seventh minute, Darius Maciulevicius missed a penalty from eleven meters as the ball hit the crossbar.
As noted by "Suduva" coach Algimantas Gabrys, the team showed a decent level of play, but lacked sharpness in attack as injured Gvidas Juska did not play and there were gaps in defense due to a minor injury suffered by Tomas Mikuckis.
The next tournament match for "Suduva" will be against the team "Zaria" from Lugansk on February 20, while "Ekranas" will face the "Kharkov" club on the same day.
