The first matches of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup have ended. Both Lithuanian clubs, "Ekranas" and "Žalgiris", lost with the same result - 3-1, even though they had a minimal one-goal lead at the end of the first half.
It is worth mentioning that almost all of the World and Lithuanian betting shops did not accept bets on the "Žalgiris" match, as large sums were being bet on the Danish team, so it is suspected that the match result was pre-arranged.
Aurelijus Skarbalius' team played goalless against the Latvian team. Skarbalius was on the field from the 75th minute, while all three Lithuanians in the Latvian team made appearances - Igoris Stukalinas played until the 71st minute, Deimantas Bička until the 81st minute, and Gražvydas Mikulėnas appeared in the 89th minute as a substitute.
Meanwhile, the defender representing "Dunfermline" scored an equalizing goal in the away match against "Hafnarfjordur" from Iceland. The Scottish team was trailing 1-2, but the Lithuanian scored the equalizer three minutes before the end of the match.
The most surprising result can be considered the 0-0 draw of last year's Champions League participants with Romania's "Otelul".
The second leg matches will be played on August 26.
