In the Lithuanian championship on Wednesday, two matches were played to start the second half of the season.
The champion Panevėžio "Ekranas" secured an important victory in front of their own fans, beating Marijampolės "Sūduva" 2-0 and avenging their loss in the first round.
The goals for the winners were scored by veteran Andrius Velička and Aurimas Vertelis at the beginning of the second half.
After this victory, "Ekranas" (27 points) solidified their position as the leader, leading Vilniaus "Žalgiris" (22 points). However, the Vilnius team will play against Gargždai "Banga" on Thursday. Meanwhile, "Sūduva" (19 points) is only ahead of Tauragės "Tauras" (7 points) due to a better goal difference, after defeating Pakruojo "Kruoja" (19 points) 4-0.
