Electricity will be saved in Italian stadiums © JumpStory

Relentlessly rising energy prices across Europe, Italians have decided to start saving. "Serie A" president Lorenzo Casini confirmed that starting from the next round, stadium lighting on match days will be limited to four hours. The floodlights will be turned on an hour before the start of the match - just enough time to calibrate the VAR system. It is said to be just the first step towards greater efficiency - LED lighting and solar panels are planned to be installed in all stadiums. "This is just the first step, we need to set a good example during the energy crisis," said Casini. "Lighting is the most important thing in stadiums, but we believe it is right to reduce lighting as much as possible before and after matches to significantly reduce energy consumption."
