On Wednesday, two more first leg matches of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals were played. This time the battles took place in London and Amsterdam. At the "Wembley" stadium, London's "Tottenham" hosted Dortmund's "Borussia" footballers. In the second half, the North London club, who raised the bar, unexpectedly crushed the well-playing Dortmund team with a score of 3:0. In the first half, both teams missed chances, but in the second half, "Tottenham" turned the game around in front of their fans. At the beginning of the second half, after a great pass from Jan Vertonghen, Heung-Min Son took the hosts ahead. Later, "Borussia" created some opportunities, but at the end of the match, "Tottenham" dealt a huge blow to the visitors. J. Vertonghen increased the lead in the 83rd minute, followed by Fernando Llorente scoring the third goal three minutes later. BVB could not recover after this blow and will return to Germany with a three-goal deficit. In other matches, Amsterdam's "Ajax" threw a challenge to the tournament champion Real Madrid. In the first half, the dominant "Ajax" players were eventually forced to recognize the superiority of the "white" team - 1:2. From the very beginning, the "Ajax" team, who was deemed a tough opponent for Madrid, almost caused a sensation. The aggressive start of the Amsterdam team players dominated the first 15 minutes. "Real" could not take control of the match and in the 37th minute was punished with a goal. After a set-piece situation, the ball was sent into the net by Nicolo Tagliafico, but the visitors were saved by Dušan Tadić, who was awarded a penalty after a VAR review. The referee decided that during the shot, Serb was interfered by Thibaut Courtois, so "Ajax" ultimately remained without a goal. In the second half, the pressure from "Ajax" decreased, and "Real" started to play more with the ball. In the 60th minute, Vinicius Junior sprinted down the left side, passed multiple opponents, and sent the ball directly to Karim Benzema in front of the goal, who scored with a powerful shot putting the visitors ahead. However, "Ajax" did not give up and in the 73rd minute already celebrated an official goal - after a pass from David Neres, Hakim Ziyech shot the ball into the net unguarded in the penalty area. The match script led the teams to equality, but one counterattack in the 87th minute erased all of "Ajax's" efforts - after a brilliant pass from Dani Carvajal, Marco Asensio directed the ball into the empty net.
