England mourns: world champion goalkeeper G. Banks dies

In the world of English sports - a huge loss. At the age of 82, legendary goalkeeper of the national team, Gordon Banks, passed away.

"With great sadness, we announce that Gordon 'crossed the line' last night," the family wrote. "We are crushed by this loss, but there are so many wonderful memories left that we can be proud of."

Throughout his career, G. Banks made the most significant impact at the clubs "Leicester City" and "Stoke City." In total, during his club career, the goalkeeper played in almost 700 matches.

G. Banks wore the England national team jersey 73 times. He was the main goalkeeper of the team when they became world champions in 1966.

During his career, G. Banks was chosen as the goalkeeper of the year six times.
