On Sunday, the world football championship continues, and another very resultative clash started in Group G today, where the England national team achieved their biggest victory of all time in the world championships.
Already in the first half, scoring five goals, the English team overwhelmed the Panama national team with a score of 6:1 and secured their place in the next stage of the championship. Meanwhile, Harry Kane, who scored a hat-trick in these matches with five precise shots, became the most productive player of the tournament.
The English team started the match very successfully: by taking their first corner they excellently executed this set piece and had the opportunity to score a goal, with John Stones' free kick in the ninth minute allowing his team to take the lead.
After the first goal, Panama tried to restore intrigue, and Yoel Barcenas came closest to scoring, but his long shot flew past the opponents' goal.
However, by the 20th minute, the Panamanians' problems became much more serious: after a great pass from a team mate, Jesse Lingard broke away alone towards the opponent's goalkeeper and was illegally stopped, resulting in a penalty kick being awarded to Panama. Harry Kane took it and with a precise and powerful shot left no hope for the opponent's goalkeeper.
After the second goal, the Panama national team tried to control the ball a bit longer, but in the 36th minute they conceded another goal into their own net. From outside the penalty area, Jesse Lingard struck a fantastic shot into the top corner of the goal, starting the opponent's breakdown.
Approaching the end of the first half, the England team demonstrated perfect penalty kick execution. After a discussion, the English players executed a great combination, and Raheem Sterling, who was at the end of it, failed to score, but his team mate John Stones saved the day, redirecting the ball into the net in the 40th minute.
Even this was not the end: in the 43rd minute, England took another corner, during which Panama illegally stopped not just one English player, resulting in another penalty kick being awarded, this time from eleven meters. Harry Kane calmly converted it to score his fourth goal of the tournament, tying with Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the tournament's top scorers list.
After the first half, England completely dominated the opponents with a 5:0 scoreline.
At the beginning of the second half, the action on the field calmed down a bit, but in the 62nd minute, a very comical goal was scored into the Panama net. Ruben Loftus-Cheek struck from long range, hitting Harry Kane's foot, from where the ball entered the opponents' goal. This not only gave the Tottenham striker his hat-trick, but also made him the top scorer of the tournament.
Despite scoring six goals, the English team relaxed a bit and their temporary defensive nap almost cost them a goal: Michael Murillo broke away alone towards the goalkeeper, but Jordan Pickford managed to prevent him from scoring.
In the 78th minute, England once again left the opponent unmarked, this time allowing Felipe Baloy to score the first ever goal for Panama in their national team's history at the world championships, after a set piece situation.
There were no more goals scored in the remaining time of the match, and before the last group G match between Belgium and England, complete equality was established at the top of the group. Both teams not only have the same number of points and the same goal difference (+6), but they also scored 8 goals each and conceded two precise shots. It is interesting that if these teams were to play to a draw in the last match, the first place would be decided by which team received fewer yellow cards in the group stage.
